Sign Design at PM

Jun 13 2018

Design is an essential phase in any signage project. Our sign design team works to make sure your branding is maintained and translated into beautiful interior and exterior signage! There are tons of considerations when undertaking a signage project, here is a quick breakdown of a few things we keep an eye out for.

Material

We always opt for the highest quality materials as they will last longer and give you a more polished look. The type of material used will depend on the style you are going for and your brand guidelines – for example, a rustic brand might opt for a sandblasted sign and a trendy, fun brand might opt for an LED sign to provide a neon look.

Colour Matching

Similar to some steps we take to select materials, our designers carefully colour match so that the finished product reflects your brand. For instance, there are certain materials where colours that don't translate well once there is a light source involved. Our design team always runs tests on both illuminated and non-illuminated versions and will explore alternative material or make colour adjustments as needed. We also go the extra mile and test both in natural and artificial light to ensure there is consistency between interior and exterior signs.

Contrast

Context is important! With a site survey we are equipped to guide decisions around materials, font, size, and placement to make sure your signage really pops! Site surveys help us not only understand the physical area we are working with but also gives us an idea on important details surrounding street traffic, foot traffic and also how people navigate the interior space.
